David Scott, Installation Engineering Manager, TechnipFMC.
Biography
David has worked in the subsea industry for 15 years, in a variety of onshore and offshore engineering positions supporting diving and diverless subsea construction, decommissioning, inspection, repair and maintenance operations. From 2020-2024 David served as TechnipFMC's Global Diving Lead- Projects, before recently moving to the UK Installation Engineering Manager Role. David holds MEng Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering degrees from the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.
Summary of presentation:
The presentation will be focused on educating the audience on the evolution of commercial diving and the associated challenges with managing diving safely. Whether you have experience in the diving industry, work closely with diving contractors or have an interest in commercial diving, the presentation will provide a well-rounded picture of the commercial diving world.
The topics will be covered at a high level and consist of diving history, diving physiology, diving methods and governance that supports it. The presentation will take you from the earliest days of commercial diving, through to the challenges associated with the latest saturation diving technique- where teams of divers can spend up to 28days living in a chamber complex at extreme depths.
