Session overview
Due to popular demand, this is a re-run of the session first held in April! The session is designed to be an accessible introduction to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and it will cover what DEI is, why it is important, and some key concepts. DEI can polarise people, it can seem inaccessible or scary, some don't see the value of engaging with it, and some believe that it's better that they leave others to engage with it; this session is designed to help tackle those challenges. This is an easy-to-understand introduction to DEI, aimed at anyone and everyone, to ensure that we can all understand and engage effectively with DEI. We ALL have a vital part to play in shaping a brighter future for everyone!
Speaker bio
Chris Robson is a DEI champion, leadership coach and Human Resource Development (HRD) manager. His background is Geoscience, with a 1st class Master’s from Royal Holloway and 10 years as a professional geoscientist in the energy sector. In recent years he made a career switch into HR; his passion is DEI and driving progressive cultural change. Chris sits on the SPE D&I committee and the OEUK D&I special interest group, serves as an ally on several Global employee resource group (ERG) boards, was awarded the women’s ERG allyship award, creates corporate DEI strategies, writes DEI articles and facilitates DEI training and workshops. He believes strongly in laying robust foundations for cultural change; to help bring everyone along on the journey together and deliver sustainable progress to the benefit of all.
