Abstract:
Performance Benchmarking is an essential tool for Upstream Production & Processing operators striving for excellence, applicable throughout an asset’s lifecycle. This presentation, co-hosted by Spirit Energy and Juran Benchmarking, will outline what performance benchmarking is, how it can assist operators to objectively analyse their performance, and identify gaps to create improvement action plans. Learn what challenges Spirit Energy faced and why they decided to benchmark their assets with Juran Benchmarking to address these issues, the benefits of the benchmarking analysis and the actions generated by the results to improve operational excellence.

Scott McGinigal
Scott joined Spirit Energy as Technical Services & HSES Director in April 2023. He is a chartered process engineer with 30 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, the most recent eight years being spent with CNOOC, latterly as Vice President Major Projects. With a background of broad experience across functions and assets around the globe, Scott has a strong track record in engineering, drilling, project and operations leadership.
Scott joined Elf / Total in 1993 and, during his time with them. fulfilled leadership, operations, engineering and project roles both onshore and offshore in the UK and Middle East. His final role with Total was Field Manager for the Al Khalij field in Qatar.
In 2007, Scott was appointed Operations Director with Mechserv, a company specialising in oilfield equipment design and manufacture. In 2014, Scott left the company following its sale to Axon Well Interventions Ltd with whom he fulfilled the position of Managing Director for three years.
Scott joined CNOOC International (Nexen) in 2014 as Buzzard Field Manager and also held the positions of General Manager Technical Services, BP Business Services and VP Major Projects.
Juran Benchmarking:
Ian Fairbairn
Ian is the Managing Director of Juran Benchmarking, has over 30 years’ industry and consulting experience and has been with Juran Benchmarking since 2012. He has extensive experience with all our Oil & Gas benchmarking programs and has been closely and regularly involved in Upstream projects both in the North Sea and globally. He has expert knowledge of our proprietary normalisation methodology the Juran Complexity Factor (JCF), having led this for several years. Furthermore, Ian has expertise in operations management, process optimization and process safety. Prior to joining Juran Benchmarking he managed the operations of an international multi-disciplinary consultancy and has worked in a number of industry sectors including oil & gas, power generation and chemicals. Ian has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Process Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration.
Neil Senior
Neil is a Senior Consultant with Juran Benchmarking and has been with Juran Benchmarking since 2018. He has led numerous benchmarking studies in areas such as upstream production & processing, pipelines, marine and LNG terminals including our recent study with Spirit Energy where Neil was the Benchmarking Lead. Throughout this project, Neil worked closely with the client to ensure data accuracy and validity, leading to actionable findings. He has over 20 years’ experience of analysis and reporting of performance, commercial and financial data across various industry segments, including several years working at ExxonMobil. Neil holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.

Full payment of the event rate you have selected must be paid in advance of the event day or you will be asked for payment on registration. If payment is not received then you will not be granted entry to the conference. We recognise that on occasions delegates will book onto events and subsequently find that they are unable to attend. In these situations we ask that delegates notify us of their need to cancel an event booking as soon as possible.
Our cancellation policy is as follows: Please send cancellation details to the event organiser by email or by telephone. Please inform the event organiser if you wish to send a replacement delegate, including their requirements (e.g. dietary, access etc). Please supply their full contact details so that any advance paperwork can be supplied directly to the replacement. If you notify the organisers of your cancellation up to two weeks prior to the event, we will provide a full refund. If you notify the organisers of your cancellation less than two weeks prior to the event the full cost will be payable and only delegate substitution will be allowed. Where you have booked a place and do not attend without notifying the organisers of your cancellation the full fee will be payable.
