CO2 Storage Conference 2025
30 September – 1 October, Chester Hotel, Aberdeen
Call for abstracts now live – Deadline 25th April
Recent major announcements mark a pivotal moment for the carbon capture and storage industry's growth and development. The government's £22bn pledge over 25 years to support Track 1 projects, alongside the first storage permit awarded to Northern Endurance Partnership, demonstrates real commitment to delivering CCS at scale—a crucial step toward achieving the UK's net zero ambitions. The UK's strategic advantages—including 78Gt of potential CO storage capacity, existing infrastructure ready for repurposing, and decades of operational expertise—position it perfectly to handle domestic emissions storage and serve as a pan-European CO2 storage hub. To realise this potential, the development of safe and efficient transport and storage networks will be essential.
The UK has made significant progress through its Track process and first CCS licensing round, awarding 21 new appraisal and storage licenses that form a substantial project pipeline. To maintain this momentum and meet the UK's 2030 storage targets, the industry must now accelerate its development pace. With investment for carbon capture, transport, and storage infrastructure at a high, there is an absolute requirement for industry, research, and academia to share knowledge and demonstrate the ability to safely and efficiently transport and store CO2 to drive the industry forward.
We invite you to contribute to the future of CCS and are now looking for abstracts (national or international) that can demonstrate collaboration, innovation, cost savings, new technologies, case studies and lessons learned. We are particularly interested in hearing about cross-border CCS projects and international collaboration.
We invite you to submit a 200-word abstract to be considered for a formal 20-minute presentation, or a 5-minute Techbyte presentation.
